Have you ever heard of “liquidated damages” in an employee contract, wherein the employee could owe the employer 3 months salary if they leave the company outside of very specific terms? It is the craziest thing I have ever read. I googled it and the practice seems common in China, where they may owe one months salary it seems, and for doctors and newscasters in the U.S. But not graphic designers.
I will leave it at that for now. As far as I know, I have always been employed “at will.”
