Really, I Mean It

Posted by dixie on Nov 26 2007 | Paper Goods

Apparently we really are back in business. Yesterday Clint designed some new holiday cards and I printed them up. Yes, I know it is the end of November and everyone was very proactive and bought their holiday cards before Halloween, right? Well, just in case there are a few slackers like me, these cards are for you.

I guess there are a few benefits to having an unemployed husband. Maybe today he will package some cards for me? Hint Hint.

My Belated Thanks to Give

Posted by dixie on Nov 24 2007 | DIY Shopping, Random/ Life

A couple of posts back I mentioned that I made a purchase about an hour before Clint lost his job and Jen was super understanding and let me reverse the transaction. Well, my purchase, a project pouch for knitting, was highly in demand. Jen and Wendy’s work is highly in demand, period. Michelle – a nice person with whom I had never previously corresponded with – bought the pouch instead.

In this whole process, Jen offered to save me a slightly imperfect pouch in the same fabric to buy when we got back on our feet. This was a nice compromise because I adored the fabric and was not concerned about an imperfection in the bag.

Fast forward a couple of days. Imagine my surprise when I received the project pouch in the mail from Piddleloop! Michelle, the incredibly generous stranger with whom I had not had previous contact, purchased the original pouch for herself and the imperfect (but really, it is pretty perfect) pouch for me! Jen covered the shipping to me.

This is seriously one of the most generous things a stranger has ever done for me. It was really such an incredibly nice gesture. It nearly brought me to tears.

Thank you, Michelle and Jen. You ladies are some of the finest.

Back in Business

Posted by dixie on Nov 24 2007 | Paper Goods

As you know, I closed up Young and With It Industries about a month ago. I took this week off from the archivist job to get things done around the house. While I have gotten a couple of things done, it has not been nearly what I planned. I decided that since I was off from the day job and not accomplishing much house stuff, I would open up the shop again for the week. Last night I started printing holiday cards! What the heck?

I don’t know. It just seemed like the thing to do. I reprinted our holiday card from two years ago in new colors.

I also listed some Chicken Butt note cards. It has been a while since I offered flat cards.

I will probably remain open at least through the holidays. Happy Holidays from Young and With It!

How We Spent Our Anniversary

Posted by dixie on Nov 22 2007 | Animals

This year’s anniversary will be a memorable one.

That evening we went out for cheap mexican food since our budget is currently very limited. We came home and let the dogs outside. The next thing I know, Clint is pointing at Sherman’s foot and his big ol’ white paw has turned dark red with blood. He is far too hyper for us to properly look at his foot to see what happened, but somehow we figure out that he seems to be bleeding from his dewclaw area and we do not see his dewclaw.

There was so much blood. SO much blood.

We rushed him to the emergency vet. Sherman has such a good temperament that really you never would have known he was in pain, other than the fact that he was obsessively licking at the area of injury. The vet advised that he completely pulled his dewclaw out but it will grow back eventually. The vet bandaged him up, gave him some pain meds and antibiotics and we were on our way. He loved all the attention the techs gave him.

Sherman is Fashionable

Sherman is Very Pathetic

We think that he jumped up on one of our metal chairs outside and his dewclaw got stuck in one of the holes, but we do not know for certain.

A memorable anniversary indeed.

I will probably have a second post later today because I have a lot of thanks to give.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Umbrellas

This sorta breaks the rule where I do not post pictures of myself.

Three years ago. The weather is almost as bad today as it was on our wedding day.
