Those of us living in Central Texas were ice/snowbound for a few days this week. The news people were predicting an ice storm so we headed to Whole Foods on Saturday to stock up on food for a couple of days. Whole Foods was insane! The crowds were worse than Christmas Eve. I assure you, that is certainly saying something.
Sunday came and it rained and rained. By Monday morning the roads were a little icy. Good thing it was a holiday. Wembley’s vet appointment was cancelled. The ice stayed on the ground so work was cancelled on Tuesday. Then it snowed. Actual snow! The temperature stayed so cold that the ice just got worse so work was cancelled again on Wednesday. The time off was restful and enjoyable. I completed quite a bit of Young and With It Industries work.
By Wednesday afternoon, having not left the house since Saturday afternoon, we started to feel a little cranky and stir crazy. We scraped about an 1″ of ice off of our cars and then we cleaned the garage so the cars would actually fit in there (yes, we definitely should have done this before the ice storm instead of afterwards). We headed out to… Whole Foods! Grocery shopping never felt so good. The pleasure came simply because We. Were. Out. Of. The. House.

During the seclusion period, the dogs had a lot of time out of their crates but they also had a lot of energy that had nowhere to go. Callie drove us completely insane. We have levered door handles and the dog has discovered that all she has to do is jump up and hit the handle with her paw and the door opens. The only way to keep her from coming into the room you are in is to lock the dang door. Very annoying.
We also discovered that Callie dislikes the music on Arrested Development. Clint was watching the DVDs and Callie began barking… seemingly random barking. At some point we realized that every time the music played at the end of an episode, she barked. Apparently she does not approve. Last night she barked at the music on The Office but did not seem to mind the musical episode of Scrubs. Interesting.
