George-Michael and Maeby

Posted by dixie on Jul 27 2006 | Movies, Random/ Life

We are all over the Arrested Development Season 3 DVD release party at the Drafthouse. How much more awesome can a DVD release party get?

We are not chancing first come, first serve. Oh no! We have already reserved seats with food and beverage tickets.

September is looking good: George-Michael and Maeby, Smog, and Sufjan Stevens.

Many thanks to Sarah and Shea for hosting an awesome Project Runway party last night! Someone was robbed, but just in case you watch the NBC version I will not elaborate.

Carry on.

Cuppycakes

Strawberry Cupcakes

We had a few people over on Saturday to celebrate my 30s and I really really wanted cupcakes so I made strawberry cupcakes with vanilla icing. The cupcakes were straight from a box, which is really the best way to make cupcakes. I must give credit where credit is due and Clint is the one who suggested the strawberry topper.

Hibiscus

My new hibiscus plant is probably just about one of my favorite plants ever.

If my birthday was any indication, 30s will be good

My Cats are Very Thoughtful

Despite the horrible allergies I am currently suffering, I had a nice birthday. I picked up a Ginkgo tree at the Natural Gardener! I am pro native plants for sure, but I could not pass up a Ginkgo tree.

I have a secret. I turn 30 tomorrow.

We ran a bunch of errands on Saturday so I decided to document one of the last days of my 20s.

We ate breakfast at Mother’s.

Then we went to the farmer’s market. However, we only purchased lemonade and a slice of watermelon.

Then we went to Big Red Sun to look at plants. We plan to xeriscape part of our front yard and needed some inspiration.

Then we went to Floribunda for more inspiration. Floribunda is actually landscaping the awesome modern houses in our neighborhood – Agave. We are way jealous of missing out on the cool landscaping. We picked up a hibiscus plant, bamboo muhly, and another plant whose name has currently escaped me. We also met this cat.

Did you know there is a crepe place run out of an Airstream trailer in the parking lot by Floribunda? How fun. How very Austin. Flip Happy Crepes

On Saturday evening, Sarah and Shea invited us over for dinner before Camera Obscura. Shea cooked us a fine meal and we met their fun neighbors and heard good stories about their other crazy neighbors. See, we have some crazy neighbors at our new house that I have yet to write about so hearing about other people’s crazy neighbors is nice.

Then Camera Obscura. I did not think it was possible that it would be more enjoyable than the first time we saw them at a day show during SXSW in March, but they put on a fantastic show. I love their hand claps and cute Scottish accents. They, the girls anyway, apparently love Austin thrift stores and vintage clothes shops. I love their new record.

Tomorrow I enter a new decade!

Are We Here?

Barely.

I could tell you about our Time Warner Cable saga but it might bore you to tears. It made us angry about a week ago but we are getting over it now. Basically, don’t buy a stucco house or people will frighten you with tales of drilling into stucco and the stucco cracking into thousands of spiderweb cracks. Then you might have to sign a waiver even though all of your neighbors in their stucco houses had no problems having cable installed nor did they have to sign a waiver. I could also tell you about the rudest customer service rep in the history of customer service, but I am getting over that one too and received many apologies from a supervisor. Jerkhead.

Now for the exciting stuff. We bought tickets to see Sufjan Stevens in September! I am so freaking excited! He is playing two nights at the Paramount Theater and I would be tempted to go both nights but we will have guests in town for the Austin City Limits festival so we will limit it to one night.
