I don’t know how to feel about it

Posted by Dixie on Aug 31 2005 | Animals, DIY Shopping, Random/ Life, Reading

I finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and I feel unsatisfied. I do not know whether to trust that the ending is as it seems. Am I being too hopeful? Perhaps.

This is all over the place, but it is good so I will do it too. Go shop.

But don’t forget to help the animals.

I am not usually one for banners, but I feel this is important.

The Past Week or So

Posted by Dixie on Aug 30 2005 | Crafty, Random/ Life

Yesterday really sucked for a number of reasons but I will get to that…

Last week the hard drive with the operating system and the applications failed on the Mac. There is one hard drive left working in the Mac.

And then yesterday the hard drive on the laptop failed for the second time in its 3.5 year lifespan. This time the fans died, which caused the processor to not work properly, which caused the hard drive to overheat. Or something like that. So the computer people tried to save our data (photos and docs) yesterday and they think that they were successful. But we are not fixing the laptop for several reasons: 1) as the man so nicely informed me, it would be difficult to locate fans for such an ancient (3.5 years, remember) machine, 2) two hard drive failures in less than a year is more than enough for me, and 3) the computer guy did not recommend fixing it, so there you go.

I think I am causing electrical problems. Have I ever mentioned that 95% of the time that I exit my car, I get shocked? Plus batteries in watches always die quickly on me. And now, hard drive failures.

Our A/C was leaking too over the weekend, but that has been fixed thanks to the nice A/C man.

Another bad thing happened yesterday but I can’t write about that in public. Suffice it to say that sometimes people suck.

Now the Just Weird:
Last weekend I, along with some other crafty people, went to The Work*Shop during a taping of a show for the DIY Network. If at some point in the future you see a show called “Craft Lab” on the DIY Network, look for me sitting in the background knitting this bag during a food carving segment. In the carving food arena, you could potentially see Lisa carving a hot dog into chocolate or Jennifer and her daughter Chloe (who looked super cute with her braids and cute tank top made by her mom) carving flowers into chocolate.

I do not have the DIY Network so I will likely never see myself or my friends if they use any of the segments. Afterwards, we went to eat Mediterranean food and it was yummy and fun.

I Got Nothin’

Posted by Dixie on Aug 24 2005 | Food, Random/ Life

Clint has returned from the land of nothing. Yay!

We promptly went to eat at Magnolia Cafe so he could feel the Austin. This being interesting because when we went on the trip to D.C. earlier this summer, the first place we went upon returning to Austin was also Magnolia Cafe. Aaaaahhhhh, it’s good to be home. The super happy nice waitress recommended that I mix verde sauce with lemon sourcream sauce on my Magnolia Enchiladas. What a lovely suggestion. I just always go for lemon sourcream at Magnolia and save the verde for cheese enchiladas at other restaurants. But, oh my, I think the combination of the two sauces goes lovely with avocado, olives, and tomatoes. Thanks, super happy nice waitress!

I’m going to be late for real work if I don’t get a move on…

Ch… Ch… Ch… Changes

Posted by Dixie on Aug 22 2005 | Crafty

As you can see to the left there, I made a few changes over the weekend. Apparently, the Young and With It Industries site doesn’t look right in all browsers. Blame the Mac, blame the Mac.

If I leave it looking bad, Clint will be more likely to help me with fixing the design when he returns. I know the whole site is very bland. I just wanted something up to show we exist.

Real work calls!
