Hmmmm…

Posted by Dixie on Jul 28 2005 | Animals

I really have nothing exciting to post about so I will tell you a story.

Today I was looking out the window at work and I happened to be talking to my coworker who was also looking out the window. I paused at some odd behavior we were witnessing. She said, “I know. I can’t figure out what he’s doing.” We watched as a waiter from the restaurant next door repeated the following action several times: he picked up a garbage can, dropped it, and jumped backwards.

I think I expected a beehive or something equally scary to fall out.

But no, it was not a beehive. It was a raccoon. When it finally fell out, the restaurant worker ran back to the restaurant side of our work “backyard” (as we have taken to calling the space), while the raccoon sat in the same spot very confused for a few minutes. Finally, the raccoon ran up the side of the dam and disappeared. I hope the critter is OK. I’m hoping he ran down the rocks on the other side of the dam to low water and safety.

Daily Candy was really odd in a good way both today and yesterday.

Have I talked about my obsession with sloths lately? Squirrels, raccoons… where are the sloths?

New Card!

Posted by Dixie on Jul 25 2005 | Crafty, Food, Paper Goods

We have a new card design up in the Etsy shop:

Also, chicken butts were restocked. Chicken butts are popular!

Soon, we will have new gnome cards available. I discovered yesterday that I had accidentally ruined the gnome screen so we have to make a new screen before the gnome-ys can be printed again. Sad.

I am also revamping our own site, but that will take a while so I am not adding any new designs here until that is done!

The weekend: Organizing. Mexican food. TLC (the tv channel). Japanese food. Crafty meet-up. Card printing.

Picture Book

Posted by Dixie on Jul 18 2005 | Crafty, Food, Paper Goods, Photos

I was busy this weekend!

First, I set up an Etsy shop for our screen printed cards. Our shop can be found directly here.

I also put up pictures on Flickr for the first day of our trip. We went to Philadelphia to visit:
The Mutter Museum, which is full of medical anomalies and creepy specimens.
Eastern State Penitentiary, which was one of my favorite things on our trip, as you can probably tell by the extreme number of photographs. The nerdy archivist in me loved the oral history snippets, the audio tour narrated by Steve Buscemi, and the historic photographs. You can hear snippets and read about the art exhibits on this page. I find it quite fascinating that they put up art exhibits inside the penitentiary. I suppose I should point out that this particular penitentiary has been featured on several ‘haunted’ programs including MTV’s Fear.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art, which houses many, many famous pieces of art. Who knew they were in Philadelphia? I have to admit that by this point in the day I was very tired so I missed much of the museum.
We ate at Jones Restaurant where I had a funky drink called a Purple People Eater (grape juice, sprite, and gingerale) and Clint had some peachy drink concoction. This restaurant has deviled eggs as a side…

Tomorrow is my birthday! The big 2-9.
