The Rasterbator
The Rasterbator is featured in the November/ December issue of ReadyMade. I have not tried this myself, mainly because it would require sifting through all of my photos on disc, but I have grand plans for the Rasterbator. Oh yea!

There is Bad News and Then There is Good News
Bad News: We lost everything in The Great Hard Drive Crash of 2004. Fortunately, when the first signs of the possibility of a crash occurred almost two months ago, we backed up the most important things (images, Clint’s work, etc.) to disc. I promise to be more diligent in the future and back up my data regularly.
Good News: Regarding the computer, it is like starting over with a new computer because there is all this empty space to fill up.
Even Better News: Ikea is scouting out Austin locations. I am elated at the possibility! Oh my, an Ikea within errand-driving distance would be bad. I can just see it now, “I need a vase. I will go to Ikea.” While there I would end up with $400 worth of items. The article is here, “IKEA seeking incentives for Central Texas store : Company has met with Austin, Round Rock officials”, but you will have to log in to read it. This is a nice time to point out that BugMeNot.com gives you log in info for those sites that are annoying and make you register in order to read articles.
The Great Hard Drive Crash of 2004
Dear readers, if you hear a clicking sound coming from your computer, it is a bad, very bad sign. Turn the computer off and do not turn it back on. Take it to a professional. Thank you.
I did not heed this advice and now our computer is in the shop with the possiblity of losing everything. This makes me very sad as I have many things to do and some of them require my computer. The professionals are going to try to recover the data and install a new hard drive. I am trying to be optimistic that we did not lose everything in The Great Hard Drive Crash of 2004.
Boo-hoo.
Better Late Than Never
Don’t forget the Gothtober Countdown Calendar this year. I find the 18th to be a rather catchy number.
Some Recurring Themes
Yesterday we found out that tickets for the Austin City Limits taping of the Pixies would be given away. I listened to the radio most of the day at work, even though we figured that it would be another night-time give away. We were right. Last night as soon as the evening show came on (8 pm), the radio station announced the ticket give away. We jumped in the car and were at the record store within 15 minutes of the announcement. The tickets were GONE. No Pixies ACL for us. Can someone tell me when the Pixies became so popular? Are they a cult phenomenon like the Violent Femmes? There were probably 50,000 people watching them at the ACL Festival (which I still need to detail here). All the kids seem to dig them.
The second recurring theme here is cable! If only that notice of cable at a price of $30 for 6 months had not arrived in our mailbox on Thursday… I would not have promptly signed up on Friday. I am such a nerd. I want cable so that I can watch HGTV and TLC primarily. I am hearing all about “Crafters Coast to Coast” and my brief foray into “What Not to Wear” was all I needed to become hooked. Oh, FX will be nice too, since my coworker who feeds me the nip tuck goods is moving on to another job. I have to wait until next weekend for installation though.
