Not Much

I am around. Not much to report. Busy. Cool. Tired. Reading. Knitting. (Trying to) Crochet.

Busy. Last weekend I attended a lovely crafty meet-up with some Austin ladies. I missed a few of the regular crafty ladies but hopefully they will be back in October.
I did not attend the Mr. Sinus Super Surprise Movie. Nope. I wasn’t there. I did not eat pasta in the dark where I could not distinguish between roasted garlic cloves and pasta noodles until they were in my mouth. Amazingly similar texture, cooked pasta and roasted garlic cloves.

Cool. Finally some relief from the oppressive Texas heat. The afternoons are still pretty hot but the mornings and evenings are so nice. Cool front this weekend? Only 80? What a bargain!

Tired. It has been a busy week. I have much to do still.

Reading. I am a sucker for bad mystery novels.

Knitting. I am almost done with the (Not So) Manly Scarf thanks to a work-related function on Monday where I was able to sit in the back and knit.

Crochet. Still working on this aspect of life. I am frustrated easily. I need help! Taking a knitting class was really helpful for me, but I feel like I should be able to crochet without a class. I just need a live person to tell me if I am doing it right.

Upcoming. Crispin Glover is coming back to the Drafthouse in November. Yay. You know me and my Crispin Glover obsession.
The Microphones/ Mt. Eerie/ P.W. Elverum & Sun LTD. - whatever name he is going by this week – is playing at Emo’s on Friday.
Somehow Clint scored us free admittance to the Portastatic/ Guided By Voices show on Saturday at Stubb’s should we choose to go. I don’t know. I wouldn’t have paid but I have never seen Guided By Voices live because of the drunken, leather pants clad Robert Pollard stories. But for free? On The Electrifying Conclusion tour? Well, maybe. We’ll see.

Neko Case + The Pixies

I put up pictures of the Neko Case show that we attended last week. Clint liked her better sans bandana on her head (I bet he did!). She sounded great. It was very crowded, probably sold out, which is awesome for her.

Tickets for the October 20th Pixies show at Stubb’s go on sale this Saturday. They have already sold out of the pre-sale tickets through the website. I think that we will pass on attending. Seeing them (from very, very far away) last weekend at the festival was quite nostalgic but, regrettably, I do not think they are worth $40+ for each ticket. Not to mention the fact that I have never heard of a Stubb’s show costing that much per ticket. Oh well.

More on last weekend’s festival soon. It was HOT, very HOT, so HOT that nothing was enjoyable. I could not even stand being outside for an hour at a time.

I have not been paid yet for August!!!
(at the job from which I resigned, the other job pays me regularly)

According to the powers that be, I am just a person who is not comfortable with uncertainty.
Yes, that is my problem.
They wonder why I resigned from such a stellar opportunity.

Just getting out a bit of frustration here, folks. Info about learning that I never ever want to attend an outdoor music festival again will be coming soon.

Good Stuff

This morning I went to pick up tickets for tonight’s Neko Case show at The Parish. On my way to purchase the tickets, I realized that the new saturday looks good to me record was out, so I also picked that up at the record store. I chose the CD. I examined the LP but decided to wait until later to get that copy. The LP apparently has different instrumentation and vocals for the same songs that are on the CD. I’ve done a preliminary listen and yep, it’s good stuff. I can’t wait to see them next month with The Sunshine Fix.

By the way, the tyranny ended yesterday. Yee-haw! Very good stuff. I begin full-time work at my stable job on the 27th, which means I have a couple extra days off next week. I will need them after the crazy music festival this weekend.

Now if only I was not suffering allergies (or a cold – whatever this coughing, sniffling business may be), things would be super good.

An Hour Outside = A Sore Throat, Water Does not Help

After that gross, rainy weather yesterday, I had to go stand outside for over an hour to be oriented to the Austin City Limits Music Festival (I am volunteering this weekend). Prior to standing outside, I felt fine. After standing out there, I immediately had a sore throat. Great. I adore suffering from Austin allergies.

Then we went to eat dinner and I swear we had the slowest waitress on the planet. Due to this fact, I had plenty of time to sit, talk, and drink water while waiting for our bill. So, me, Ms. Clumsy – I don’t even know how I did it – but I managed to bump my nearly full glass of ice water and knock the whole glass into my lap and onto the floor. Nice. Wet jeans and a sore throat make for the best feeling ever. I blame it all on the slow ass waitress because if she had handled the bill in a timely manner, I would not have had the opportunity to sit and talk and gesture with my hands (is this what I did?) and bump the glass into my lap. Poo on slow waitresses.
