Photos. Shows. Photos. Shows.
I added photos of the Art Car Parade as promised. If I had not just spent an hour doing web stuff (which makes me lazy), I would explain a bit more than the following: The lobster-conducting bass/lobster car was definitely a highlight. All of the bass and lobsters flapped in unison to the music. The yellow bus is an Art Gallery Bus and the guy in it is super nice. We talked to him one night at First Thursday. Another highlight was the car with all the toys stuck on it. Oh and the student driver car, but it’s hard to see well in these photos.
I have also updated currently with upcoming show info. I’m a little sad that I’ll be missing Bonnie Prince Billy during his two night stint at The Parish. I will be out of town. Poo.

My Little Bird Wonder Wallet finally arrived today. Clint purchased it for me as a treat for my dental torture. I was planning to buy it for myself, but Clint stepped in and made the purchase. I had been waiting patiently. The website is so cute — if you check the status of your order, it says, “Your order is being built. It has been 2.6 weeks since you placed your order…” or something like that. So cute. Anyway, if anyone was keeping tabs on such things, I ended up choosing blue. It is perfect.
The Weekend Adventures
Let’s see, after scoring new movies, we came home to watch Kill Bill Vol. 1. Ashamedly, I fell asleep right before the big Lucy Liu/Uma Thurman fight scene. I was somewhat interested but kind of indifferent. So on Saturday, I decided to watch what I had missed and holy, the ending made me want to see Vol. 2 immediately. Clint and I promptly went to the theater to see it Saturday night. I like Vol. 2 better. Of course, Vol. 2 actually explains the story and why The Bride is on a killing spree.
What else? We went to see the Art Car Parade on Saturday. That was enjoyable. The Student Driver car and the singing bass/lobster with a lobster conductor were the highlights of the parade. I will put up pictures soon.
After the Art Car Parade, we walked over to the Farmer’s Market. It seems I just like to go and look. Twice this year I have gone, walked around, and not purchased anything. The farmers are mostly selling greens right now and I still seem to be having a hard time eating fresh greens. (I discovered this after trying to eat a salad at lunch on Saturday. It took a very long time to get through half of the salad and then I quit trying.) So maybe soon I will support the farmers. The participants are still a fairly small group. I expect that will grow as we get closer to summer.
That’s pretty much the excitement for now.
Score!
Last night, Clint and I went to eat some indian cuisine (mmmm…. samosas, bombay aloo, korma… yum) to celebrate Clint receiving a summer internship. (Although it is an unpaid internship, so perhaps we should have celebrated cheaply.)
Interestingly, across the street from the restaurant, SBC union workers were striking. They were chanting and picketing… very intriguing. I think this story might explain it, but it only states that workers may strike. Could this have been a pre-strike? I dunno.
So… the exciting event for the evening… we went to rent some flicks and found a load of used DVDs worth purchasing. We scored:
American Splendor
Home Movie
Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator
and
Willard.
Rock!
